Part-Time Special Needs Nanny

Do you love to laugh? As a part-time, long-term special-needs nanny, you are the difference between chaos and calm for this loving family and their infant. Any family who requests that their nanny is funny, comical, and loves to laugh is a family you want to commit to long-term. The stay-at-home mom is looking for a patient teammate, a cheerleader, and a special-needs expert to let Mom "get back to normal." COVID, flu, and tdap vaccines are required (at a minimum). This is a long-term, year-round part-time nanny job with a developmentally-delayed infant.

The newborn was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome (a genetic disorder resulting in developmental-delay, cardiac symptoms, and colic). Williams' kids are unbelievably friendly, outgoing, happy, and quixotic. The parents hope your easygoing nature provides a positive, nurturing environment allowing Lo to reach a neurotypical stage of learning by encouraging the infant to achieve its best, not pushing them. For example, sleep training is challenging for this infant, who rests for forty-five minutes on average approximately six times a day. Experience with nutrition management may be helpful. As the newborn with Williams Syndrome becomes a toddler, your medical background will help you be successful.

The infant has a 7yog sister. Lo is at school full-time and will be home during the summer (when not in camp.) Our client is an entrepreneurial chef who prefers the part-time nanny focused on the special-needs newborn. Former Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), neonatal nurses, and pediatric nurses are encouraged to apply.

Professional nannies are instrumental to a family's sanity. You are more than an infant specialist nanny in Minneapolis who shows up and sits around. Nannies are engaged. You are on the floor laughing and playing with the kids. You are at the park being silly while teaching them how to play nicely with others. You are a leader who exemplifies love, reliability, and stability.

Childcare Requirements:

  • You are legally authorized to work in the United States or have equivalent U.S. work authorization.

  • You understand that special-needs infants are immunocompromised, and you are willing to update your COVID, flu, and Tdap vaccinations.

  • You are looking for a long-term special-needs childcare job that offers part-time hours (averages 20 hours a week)

  • You are not allergic to dogs.

  • You can follow directions, especially with dietary restrictions, meal preparation, medication management, and medical practices.

  • You are professionally skilled at working with children with a genetic mutation disorder such as Williams Syndrome, Down's Syndrome, Autism, or someone with a learning disorder.

  • You have former nanny childcare experience, especially with special-needs infants.

  • You adore laughing and humor!

Long-Term Skills:

  • You have a reliable car and minimal speeding tickets/accidents for this newborn care job.

  • You may have majored in early childhood education (K-12) at an accredited college or university (2 or 4 years) or technical/ community college.

  • You might be First Aid/CPR/SIDS Certified for infants and newborns.

  • You enjoy constantly talking and interacting with newborns and elementary school children.

  • You lovingly and positively support developmentally challenged children to explore their abilities.

  • You are looking for year-round employment, but only part-time, with a stay-at-home mom who will be there 50% of the time.

  • You might be familiar with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
