FAQs for Professional Nannies

How much do nannies get paid?

Our company receives a range the parents are willing to pay. Here are the faqs! On your application, you choose how much you are willing to accept. Then we connect qualified nannies whose request is within the range of the parents’.

Do you provide health insurance?

At this time, we do not provide health insurance. However, a select few families offer a health care stipend monthly.

How often will I get paid?

Usually, you will be paid weekly or every other week. It depends on the payment schedule you arrange with your employer prior to being hired.

How will my employer pay my nanny salary?

Frequently, parents use direct deposit to pay you. On rare occasion, they will pay by check.

Working for a private family, do I get a vacation?

Yes! Most families offer a paid vacation benefit package. Frequently, you choose half the exact dates you want to take as a vacation and your employer picks the remaining days. We request both parties provide a minimum of 30 days notice to each other.

Do I get to meet the parents before accepting the nanny position?

Yes. After we interview all potential candidates, we pick our top 3 choices who then meet with the parents on a chosen day which works for everyone’s schedule. A representative of the TENT Group will attend that meeting.

Will you call my professional references?

No, however, we will email your references.

Is there a background check for nannies?

Yes, absolutely!

Is there drug testing for nannies and domestic workers?

Absolutely! We work with a third party agency who independently handles all testing.

How many hours will I get to work with your babysitting agency?

This depends on the job you apply for. We will always communicate the number of hours expected. If you apply for a part-time job, we only consider you for part-time positions. If you apply for a full-time job, we make sure the family’s needs match your availability. We work with families who appreciate regular schedules, so often you can predict your schedule week to week. We also ensure a guaranteed level of pay even if the family doesn’t need you as much they next week, or might be going on an unexpected trip.

How long will this childcare job last?

This all depends. Most of our jobs require a minimum one year contract. However, sometimes families only need help temporarily. If you are looking for a semi-permanent job, we can locate one for you.

How many kids will I be looking after?

We are very forward, open, and honest with you. We will always tell you about the family you are being considered for prior to meeting with them. Some families have one infant, while other have 4 kids. We want to match you with a family who you will be happy to stay with.

What if I don’t get the sitting job after the Parent Interview?

No worries! All your work was not in vain! Those who made it to the Parent Interview are the best of the best! If this family isn’t a great match, we may pair you with another family to interview with. This all depends on locations, availability, salary requirements, and assessed skills.

For the Parent Interview, where do I meet them?

We usually meet at an undisclosed location. We will request a copy of your license prior to the meeting to ensure proper safety measures for the family.

Can nannies use their cell phones while working?

Absolutely not! Only under minimal conditions will you be able to use your cell phone except in the case of emergency or communicating with the guardians.

What are your hiring practices?

It is illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit.
